PleinAire Design Group is a centrally located landscape architecture and consulting arborist firm providing services for clients throughout California. Our office, based in Santa Maria, allows us to easily go to project sites throughout California. Kevin J. Small, as founder of the firm, acts as principal in charge of all projects. With 35 years of experience and 30 years in his own firm, Kevin provides a background of experience and oversees all projects from schematic design to construction administration.

We approach all projects as a unique challenge, each with its own specific demands and needs. We strive to understand these needs and to create a design solution that attains our clients’ goals and provides the greater community with a valuable asset. We understand that each project adds to its community’s overall environment, affording us opportunities to provide for both specific clients and for our communities at large.

To obtain a successful design, we rely on our relationship between the client and the Landscape Architect. Good communication between the client and the designer is the key to a successful result. We strive to meet our clients’ goals in a cost effective and professional manner, while at the same time creating environments that are aesthetically pleasing, complement the architecture, mature well, and are sensitive to water usage and the local environment.

As Consulting Arborists we endeavor to provide our clients with highly professional services, performed ethically and efficiently. We conform to the American Society of Consulting Arborists Code of Ethics, and provide clear and unbiased opinions.

We have successfully completed work for multiple clients throughout California. This experience, along with 33 years of Landscape Architecture experience, gives us a unique skill set that is rare among arborists.
